A few months ago, my 5 year old son said, "I don't like broccoli, I'm allergic to it." I was having a bad day so I let it go and said, "Ok, you don't have to eat your broccoli." (I was totally thinking he would eat it anyway...well he didn't) The next time we had broccoli, I decided to be a little more creative. When he saw the broccoli on his plate he said, "Mom, I dont like broccoli, I'm allergic to it." I said, "That's not broccoli, those are spongebob tress!" He looked at me confused (lol, I will never forget that look!). The broccoli was upside down on his plate, so I picked it up and said, "See these are spongebob trees!" He seemed to make the connection (how, I don't know), he ate the broccoli, no problem!
Just recently, we had asparagus with our dinner. He picked up the asparagus with the most disgusted look on his face (lol, I will never forget that look either!) and said, "Mom what's this?" So I said "It's a lightsaber from Star Wars. It's kinda like a sword." He said, "Oh ok," and ate two of them!
Our dinner is now teryaki chicken, rice and spongebob trees. Our other dinner is Lamb and Lightsabers. It's funny how when we change the name of a vegetable, kids usually have no problem eating them! My 5 year old laughs and eats his veggies with a smile! What more could a mom ask for!
Cute feature and great finds! ~ Love your creativity with getting your 5 year old to eat his veggies! Wonder if it would work on my 17 year old, LOL! Ever since he was little ~ and to this day, he will eat lots of items that go into a salad, but NOT the lettuce! ✿
